Situation in Belarus

Resolution adopted by the EPP Political Assembly Copenhagen, Denmark, 4th-5th September 2017.

1. Being concerned by the deteriorating democratic development, the continuing and increasing violation of human rights and the difficult situation for political opposition, independent tradeunions, civil society, journalists and other freedom defenders in Belarus;

2. Stressing that the Belarus has committed itself to upholding the principles enshrined in the 1975 Helsinki Final Act, which include respect of human rights and main liberties, such as freedom of thought, conscience, faith and opinion;
