"What happened in Brest shows that the Belarusians are waking up after the political sleep. The reason for that is not only the coming of the calendar spring, the people have started to understand that such situation in the country cannot go on any longer. The regime carouses while the people live in misery. It has also become obvious that the authorities fear the splash of the people’s outrage, trying to conteract to that by all means. However, it is also obvious this would lead nowhere. --- - Mach 25 is a remarkable date of the Belarusian history. This year, we are celebrating the 99th anniversary of the formation of the Belarusian People’s Republic, getting prepared to the 100th jubilee. Still, our government tends to forget about this date due to some reason, but recalls something else – the 100th anniversary of the Soviet militia.This clearly shows the essence of the regime and its priorities."
Charter 97: BBC: Protestors Blocked Major Road In Brest

“Over a thousand protesters against the tax on "parasitism" marched through the central streets of the Belarusian Brest and blocked traffic on the main avenue of the city," – the BBC reported yesterday.
Protesters shouted "Basta!", "Lukashenka, go away!" "We don’t want to pay to thieves, parasites, and cops", "No salary – there is a tax, replenishing a deputy’s purse", “The real parasite is the one who has invented the decree."
