Zhu Yufu, is a prominent Christian prisoner of conscience. His family is very concerned about his well-being given the torture to mind and body he constantly endures. --- Early this year, ChinaAid joined with over 30 international human rights organizations and launched the “Free China 16” campaign. Zhu Yufu is among these 16 prisoners of conscience." His sister is writing: "My brother Zhu Yufu’s current physical health condition is very poor. However, the mental torture he suffers is even worse. We in the family are very worried that Zhu Yufu’s will power will collapse and we are worried that he may be unable to endure one mental torture after another.


In the meantime, we hereby lodge our strong protest and express our indignation against Prison No. 4 of Zhejiang in treating a prisoner of conscience like this."

Belarus - Imprisoned presidential candidate Mikola Statkevich still meets pressure - Belarus is using brutal torture: "worse than Stalin"

"Prison officers keep talking Mikalai Statkevich into taking “a man’s decision” and asking president Lukashenka for mercy. At the same time the conditions of confinement are worsening.





These latter days his wife Maryna Adamovich has received five letters, all at once. “There was a delay and I got no letters from him. A prison censor must have been on holiday,” she told Belsat TV.

According to imprisoned politician, the administration gives him no peace insisting on filing a petition for pardon to the current president. “During the morning round one of the department heads said: “It’s high time you stopped playing cowboys and Indians and took a decision. You’ve served enough.” I recommended him to mind his own business and not to interfere in the spheres which are beyond his competence. But the department head told me again that it was high time I had taken ‘a man’s decision’. I told him that I did make a man’s decision long time ago. This was a queer, illegal and inappropriate offer. By the way, I quote my words in a brief and censored way. Taking into account the background of such “offers” I should expect a reprimand or something else. But I wonder why these people couldn’t realize that they won’t see me writing a petition,” the political prisoner writes to the wife.

Statkevich is glad that opposition is preparing for the oncoming presidential election. “It is a pleasant fact that politicians started to withdraw from boycotting in favour of participation in the presidential campaign, some intending to become a single candidate. But we should not ignore calls of the situation; for example, poodles are believed to be very smart dogs. There can also be brave dogs among them <…> But it is the wolfhounds that should be sey against wolves, not poodles,” Mikalai Statkevich stresses."

Indisk polis arresterade pastorer efter extremistattack mot gudstjänst

"Den 28 augusti arresterade polisen två pastorer i Tarpongi, Thana Dharseenwas, Raipur, i delstaten Chhattisgarh, efter att hinduextremister tvingat sig in i gudstjänstlokalen och hotat att döda de kristna i byn om de fortsatte att tillbe Jesus. Enligt pastor Akhilesh Edgar, skedde intrånget omkring klockan 12.30 medan söndagsgudstjänsten, som leddes av Ashok Dhruva och Dhani Ram, pågick. Angriparna sa till pastorerna att avbryta mötet eller ta konsekvenserna. Extremisterna anklagade också pastorerna för att de med våld försökt omvända människor till kristendom.

”Tvångskonvertering har inte förekommit. Omkring 100 personer från byn valde att komma till mötet av egen vilja”, berättar en lokal kristen ledare, pastor Gardia. Extremisterna lämnade gudstjänstlokalen efter att de hotat döda de kristna ifall de fortsätter tillbe Jesus Kristus. Pastorn och några troende gick efteråt till polisstationen för att be om beskydd från polisen. Överraskande nog arresterade polisen i stället de två pastorerna och sände dem till centralfängselset samma kväll. Pastorerna frigavs senare mot borgen efter att regionala kristna ledare ingripit.

Tidigare i augusti skedde även två attacker i delstaten Karnataka. Den 18 augusti misshandlade hinduextremister en kristen änka i Chikmagalur-distriktet och lämnade henne liggande medvetslös på vägen. Enligt advokat Moses Muragavel trängde sig extremisterna in i Doddammas hus och förhörde henne om hennes tro. Så släpade de henne och hennes dotter till det hinduistiska templet och försökte med våld konvertera dem tillbaka till hinduismen. Men Doddamma och hennes dotter stod fast och vägrade förneka Jesus Kristus. Efter det misshandlade extremisterna dem i nästan en timmes tid tills Doddamma blev medvetslös. Hon låg livlös på gatan när hennes grannar fann henne. Även hennes dotter fick skrubbsår och blåmärken över hela kroppen. De togs båda in på sjukhus och sköttes där i tre dagar. Polisen har registrerat en första anmälan och rapport om attacken.

Den 11 augusti attackerade hinduextremister pastor Parama Jyothi, som leder en husförsamling i byn Mobanahalli i Chitradurga-distriktet i Karnataka. Omkring klockan 10 trängde sig extremisterna in i pastor Jyothis husförsamling och misshandlade honom skoningslöst och drog ut honom på gatan så att hans kläder revs sönder och senare drog de av honom nästan alla kläder. Hela hans kropp var full av blåmärken och tre framtänder skadades. Församlingsmedlemmarna tog sin pastor till sjukhuset där han vårdades i en vecka. Pastor Jyothi lämnade in ett brev till polisstationen i Bejikere där han uppmanade dem att vidta nödvändiga åtgärder för att beskydda honom, eftersom extremisterna strängt varnade honom att se till att lämna byn inom en vecka om han tänker fortsätta att följa Jesus. Tills vidare har vi inte fått någon vidare information om pastorns och hans husförsamlings öde."

"Vi ber för de omkring 40 personer som skadades när polisen med tårgas, batonger och hundar krossade en protest mot det 3 månader långa fängslandet av två katoliker. Protesten den 4 september i Nghi Phuong, söder om Hanoi, kom som ett svar på polisens vägran att frige Nguyen Van Hai (43) och Ngo Van Khoi (53), som arresterade den 22 maj för ”störande av den allmänna ordningen”. Vi ber speciellt för de cirka 15 personer som arresterades, att de får uppleva Guds frid och närvaro, och snart bli frisläppta."

"Kazakhstan is using Interpol, the joint police body based in Lyon, France, to wage a political vendetta in the heart of the EU. In a country ruled for the past 20 years by the same man, President Nursultan Nazarbayev, dissent is not tolerated. --- Almost all independent media have been silenced. --- To some extent, the Interpol requests are a form of PR: they try to give credibility to Kazakhstan's claims that opposition activists are criminals. --- Before giving its stamp of approval to Kazakh, Russian or Ukrainian alerts, Interpol should exercise extreme caution. Before extraditing anyone to these countries, European courts and interior ministries should think twice about the potential consequences. Kazakhstan has been repeatedly accused of using torture during interrogations and in prisons. In July this year, Amnesty International wrote: "Torture remains commonplace in Kazakhstan and the torturers are allowed to go free … Victims of government abuses and their families are still waiting for justice." International organisations have also documented its show trials and its political control of the judiciary."

"In the evenings, they would pour chlorinated water on my clothes and leave me in a room with a broken window. During the night every hour a loud bell would ring, making it impossible to sleep."
