"We a very glad about the release of Andrei Sannikov and Zmitser Bandarenka indeed, but the situation has not changed fundamentally. More than a dozen of political prisoners are still kept behind the bars. We know that tortures are used against them, an extreme pressure, both physical and moral, is exerted on them. The authorities continue to keep hostages. Among them are a presidential candidate Mikalai Statkevich, Andrei Sannikov’s family. Iryna Khalip, as many other people, remains to be under different kinds of restriction of freedom. So there is no sort of reason for discussing any easing the sanctions, which are very mild already,” Alyaksandr Atroshchankau said to Radio Svaboda.

Andrei Sannikov, the recently released 2010 presidential candidate, received a summons from police 30 minutes after publication of the information about a press conference scheduled for April 17.

Anything can happen now with him and other political prisoners, an urgent need to make a decision on their release on humanitarian grounds." --- "Autukhovich, Statkevich, Dmitry Dashkevich, they are in dire straits. Anything can happen to them, given my experience. If someone who can make that decision, I really hear and really can make a decision on humanitarian grounds, it must be done urgently. "

Ledaren för Young Front; Dimitry Dashkevich gläds över att Andrei Sannikov och Dimitri Bandarenka är fria. Hans hälsa är rätt ok, säger fästmön Nasta Palazhanka.
