Hungerstrejk - en bild av folkets desperation och frihetslängtan - Siarhei Kavalenka; hungering for justice and freedom

Modern, Lidia Kavalenka, får inte träffa sin hungersstrejkande son Siarhei som svävar mellan liv och död. Han har hungersstrejkat sedan mitten av december. Han intensivvårdas, tvångsmatas och -vätskas av regimen på psykiatriskt sjukhus (inte på ett vanligt sjukhus som familjen önskat). Han dömdes till 2 års fängelse för påstått skattefusk (det finns inga opartiska domstolar i Belarus) och för att ha klättrat upp i en julgran i Vitebsk för att fästa dit oppositionens flagga.

Jag tänker på hans hustru Alena Kavalenka och barnen. ♥ Pray for Alena, Siarhei and the children. ♥ Strenght, hope, faith, courage, love, life...

“I think he would have agreed to end the hunger strike at a hospital for civilians, but he does not trust prison doctors. We are not allowed to see Syarhei,”Alena Kavalenka told Radio Svaboda. --- The International federation for human rights, Viasna human rights centre and  Free Belarus now have called for Kavalenka to be transferred to a civilain hospital as a matter of urgency."

Tvångsmatas av regimen, hustrun tillåts inte besöka honom. Enligt hustrun skulle han gå med på att äta på ett civilt sjukhus.
