Afghanistan - lack of fundamental rights, health care, food security and free media

Afghanistan's humanitarian crisis - Afghanistan is more than green tea and Naan-bread. 

- Recently we read in the newspapers about the weather being extremely cold in this country where the people don't even have winter clothes or proper heaters. There is also a rising food insecurity. 

Sharing a CTW-news link I got from OFWI (President and founder Majed El Shafie). OFWI operates in the country.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day, January, 27, 2023.

About a year ago, but still relevant: 

“Zelensky gives modern Maccabee energy,” (Peter Fox, on Twitter.) referring to the ancient Jews who, though outflanked in every way, fended off the efforts of foreign fighters, directed by a power-hungry ruler, to quash their independence and culture in ancient Israel. That history can be seen as an apt comparison for what’s happening in Ukraine -

Many of his relatives were killed in the Holocaust,” said one of them, shared by Good, a media company. “He is standing up to a dictator. Because he is brave. Suissa connected Zelensky’s leadership to Israel, which he called “the ultimate example of Jews telling the world, ‘Listen, we are here. We’re not running. We’re not hiding.’” ---

Internationella minnesdagen för Förintelsens offer - International Holocaust Remembrance Day

 - Den 27 januari högtidlighålls den årliga internationella minnesdagen för Förintelsens offer, deklarerad år 2005 av FN. Samma datum befriades koncentrationslägret Auschwitz-Birkenau år 1945. 

I år har det gått 78 år sedan folkmordet och det var ca 6 miljoner judar som utrotades i katastrofen Förintelsen (Shoah).

This Kind of hope

 - The 58th Solothurn Film Festival in Switzerland opened on Wednesday with the documentary “This Kind of Hope” about Andrei Sannikov. The Swiss-Polish filmmaker Pawel Siczek, who grew up in Libya and Winterthur, directed the film. The world premiere of "This Kind of Hope" was seen on the opening day by around 2,000 spectators, who gave the film crew a standing ovation.

"Sannikov was Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus under President Alexander Lukashenko from 1995 to 1996, but soon resigned in protest at his style of rulership. Sannikov disarmed one of the most dangerous nuclear arsenals in Belarus. He also worked in the UN mission in Geneva and is now the chair of the citizens’ movement “European Belarus”. - Here's an interesting interview in the Switzerland Times: "Putin switches and rules in Belarus as he pleases". Former Belarusian presidential candidate and diplomat in exile Andrei Sannikov is being interviewed about Putin and Lukashenko; "a relationship between criminals":

Fokus: Lagen är god, i Jesus finns Guds rättfärdighet

Fokus, nådens år 2023. (Fokus i FC, 15.1.2023 kl. 17.30) Vi samlas till Fokus varannan söndag! Välkommen med!

 - Senaste söndag (15.1.2023) var vi i gång med Fokus igen efter juluppehållet. På programmet stod bibelstudium med församlingspastor Jakob Edman. Temat var Bergspredikan (del 2). Niklas Storbacka var mötesledare och Kristian "Kick" Östman & co stod för lovsångsledningen. Det blev ett rejält lovsångspass den kvällen. Barnfokus leddes av Alina Storbacka & Anja Stephens. Förbönen leddes av Eivor Anderssén och Ralf Salo. Heidi Storbacka skötte serveringen och kvällens kollekt gick till SAT 7 via offergång. Kvällen var välbesökt!

- Niklas uppmanade oss bla. till att vända oss från missnöje till tacksamhet och omvändelse i sin inledning. Lovsångarna under "Kick's" ledning var taggade och hängivna i sin uppgift. Den sång jag minns bäst är "Way maker", åtminstone gick jag och nynnade på den dagen efter. Några rader ur sången är:

 "Way maker, miracle worker, promise keeper, light in the darkness, my God, that is who you are..."

Jag tror att Jesus blir väldigt glad när vi sjunger om hans egenskaper. 

- Jakob Edman har ju tidigare undervisat över Jesu bergspredikan fram till  Matt. 5:16 där Jesus bla. undervisar om att vi är världens ljus och jordens salt. 

Undervisningen fortsatte över Matt. 5:17-20 som handlar om Jesus och lagen. Jesus talar om Mose lag till judarna, Guds egendomsfolk. Lagen är tecknet på förbundet. Lagen är någonting gott, men den kan missbrukas. Lagen är inte slutmålet, utan den pekar mot ett annorlunda liv och framåt. Riktmärket är Jesus. I Jesus finns Guds rättfärdighet. 

I Matt. 19:7-8 talar Jesus om hjärtats hårdhet och ämnet skilsmässa. Jesus är botemedlet mot hårda hjärtan. I Jesus finns en rättfärdighet som förvandlar hårda hjärtan.

Jakob var som vanligt väl förberedd i sin undervisning och temat handlade mycket om efterföljelse. Vi ska följa Jesus så att vi förvandlas och inte blir fariseer. I bergspredikan är mänskorelationer centrala. 

Matt. 5:21-26 handlar om "mord och vrede". Ilska kan vara sund. Att trycka ner vrede kan leda till bitterhet. Bakom många våldsbrott ligger dock vrede. Känslor är sanna, men det är inte alltid rätt att låta dem styra. Förakt kan vara ännu farligare än vrede. Försoning och förlåtelse är nyckelord. 

Matt. 5:27-32 som handlar om äktenskapsbrott och ansvar och visar att vi behöver ta varje mänska på stort allvar. Här var Jakob också inne på att tex. sexhandel (trafficing) och sexköp just handlar om begär, mänskoförakt, behovet att äga och utnyttja (Matt. 5:28) Angående skilsmässa betonade Jakob att det mycket handlar om mannens ansvar för kvinnan och vårt ansvar för varandra. 

I v. 30 talas om Gehenna och i denna kontext är betydelsen avstjälpningsplats, en plats där det även idkats något så grymt som barnoffer, förklarade Jakob.

Jesu bergspredikan är den längsta sammanhängande undervisningen som Jesus gav. Mitt korta sammandrag är inte heltäckande.

Efter undervisningen fanns det ännu tid för förbön och förebedjarna Eivor och Ralf ledde oss i tacksägelse och förbön för de insamlade böneämnena som skrivit ner på lappar. Förbönen är viktig och det finns alltid många angelägna tacksägelse- och förbönsämnen. 

Slutligen avslutades kvällen med Herrens välsignelse sjungen och allra sist kunde man gå till serveringen som är kostnadsfri. Om man vill kan man ge ett frivilligt bidrag. Denna gång stannade sgs alla kvar och umgicks vid kaffeborden. Man kunde också gå till personlig förbön om man ville. 

Efteråt samlades mötesledarna i ett skilt rum och vi gjorde upp våra turer inför våren.
