Laos - Ett högt pris för tron på Jesus

LAOS

"I Laos är endast 3,4 procent av befolkningen kristna. Trots detta har den kommunistiska regimen i Laos länge haft på sin agenda att ”eliminera kristendomen”, som den anser är en främmande och utländsk religion, kopplad till dess fiender. I årtionden har den allvarliga, målinriktade och systematiska förföljelsen av hmong-folket fortsatt och till och med innefattat kemiska vapen. Medan situationen har förbättrats, anses kristendomen fortfarande vara ett problem och ett hot både av regeringen och av lokalbefolkningen. Kristna fängslas fortfarande för sin tro – ofta fjättrade i bojor av något slag – och tortyr används allmänt. De vanligaste formerna av förföljelse inkluderar press på hög nivå för att få kristna att avsäga sig sin tro, med sanktioner såsom tvångsförflyttning, förvägras service och social uteslutning. Trots allt detta och tack vare otroliga vittnesbörd från lokala troende, fortsätter kyrkan att växa.

Många laotiska bybor följer traditionella religioner som innebär att ständigt blidka förfädernas andar för att förhindra katastrofer som exempelvis stormar och uteblivna skördar. Följaktligen ses kristna som vägrar utöva den traditionella religionen som ett hot mot byns välstånd. Byhövdingarna värvas för att köra bort kristna från sin by. Nöjda med att se hur kristna förföljs, gör inte de statliga myndigheterna något för att försvara de kristnas rättigheter utan utnyttjar snarare varje tillfälle att arrestera dem.

Förföljelsen är intensivast på det bördiga höglandet i provinsen Savannakhet. Den 11 maj häktades 23 kristna i byn Paksong i Savannakhet efter att ha arresterats för att ha samlats på det som myndigheterna betecknade som en ”obehörig” plats. Tolv släpptes efter att de skrivit under dokument som förklarade att de inte kommer att mötas där igen, men elva är fortfarande i fängelse. Det verkar som om den tidigare byhövdingen hade gett de kristna lov att samlas, medan den nya inte hade gjort det.

Den 20 maj fastslog byhövdingen i byn Saisomboon, också den i provinsen Savannakhet, att genom att bli kristna hade tre kvinnliga studenter förverkat sin rätt till undervisning. Noi (15), Net (15) och Nut (14) har fått höra att de inte har rätt att delta i sina prov. Den lokala kristna ledaren, fru Kaithong, har senare överklagat beslutet till distriktets undervisningschef som förhandlar med skolans ledning.

Söndagen den 25 maj gjorde polisen en räd mot pastor Phupets hem i byn Donpalai där omkring 80 troende hade samlats för att fira gudstjänst. Efter att ha skymfat och skrämt upp de troende, konfiskerade polisen 53 Biblar. Denna räd skedde utan tillåtelse av byhövdingen.

Den 29 maj grep polisen, på order av byhövdingen i byn Loynam i Savannakhet, en kristen man, Sort (40) från hans hem. Han bands vid en påle och smädades och läxades upp offentligt för att han vägrade avsäga sig sin tro. För ungefär ett år sedan blev Sort tillsammans med sin hustru och två barn den första familjen att bli kristna i hela området. Polisen hade försökt tvinga Sort att avsäga sig sin tro sedan den 15 maj, när de hotade att beslagta all hans egendom. Då hade Sort sagt till dem: ”Jag har levt enligt den kristna tron i över ett år och inte brutit mot några lagar!” Till och med efter att de konfiskerade hans besparingar, vägrade han avsäga sig sin tro. Så den 29 maj, efter att offentligt ha förnedrat Sort, arresterades han för att ha vägrat avsäga sig sin tro på Jesus Kristus. Han hålls nu i Nong distriktsfängelse."

- Vi ber att alla kristna som lider i Laos fängelser ska få uppleva den tröstande närvaron av Jesus själv som lovade ”jag är med er alla dagar intill tidens slut”. (Matt 28:20) Vi ber också att Noi, Net, Nut och andra kristna studenter inte ska förvägras utbildning på grund av sin tro på Jesus, må Gud välsigna fru Kaithongs arbete och vittnesbörd. Må Gud också välsigna pastor Phupet och hans husförsamling i byn Donpalai så att han får mera Biblar och kan fortsätta bygga sin församling där. Vi ber även om kraft, kärlek och vishet för Sort och hans familj.


NORDKOREA

"Vi ber för den sydkoreanska baptistmissionären Kim Jung-wook (50), som den 30 maj av en domstol i Pyongyang dömdes till livstidsstraffarbete. Kim hade i februari befunnits skyldig till spionage, anti-statlig omstörtande verksamhet och inrättandet av en underjordisk religiös institution. Enligt rapporterna begärde den nordkoreanska försvarsadvokaten att domstolen skulle reducera den av åklagarna krävda dödsdomen med motiveringen att Kim ”allvarligt har ångrat sina brott och bett om ursäkt för dem”. Det stränga straffet för Kim Jung-wook ger Nordkorea en bra förhandlingsposition i förhållande till Sydkorea. I april 2013 dömdes koreansk-amerikanska missionären Kenneth Bae till 15 års straffarbete på liknande åtal. Vi ber också för de nordkoreanska kristna som, ifall de upptäcks när de utövar sin tro, avrättas och deras släkt sänds till gulagen."

Вадим Курамшин  (fängslade mänskorättsförsvararen Vadim Kuramshin, Kazakhstan) står på sig mot regimen, fortsätter sin hungerstrejk trots att han är svag och sjuk. Advokat Baranov sökte upp honom då han inte hade ringt sin hustru och det visade sig att han då var på sjukhus. Efter att ha tvingats vistas i isoleringscell (kylaren) där temperaturen aldrig överstiger 15 grader och luftfuktigheten är hög drog han på sig en svår förkylning med feber; närmare 39 grader och läkaren hörde oljud från hans lungor. Fängelseförhållandena, särskilt i isoleringscell är urusla (kallt, smutsig madrass, inga kläder). Vadim är undernärd och lider av sömnlöshet. På torsdag 5,6.2014 överfördes han till en sjukstuga där han fick vård. Han kommer att fortsätta hungerstrejken trots dålig hälsa, tills han förflyttas till ett annat fängelse. Innan hungerstrejken vägde han ca 74 kg och den 5.6 70, 3 kg.

Den 8 juni beskriver han sitt tillstånd så här: "svaghetskänsla, trötthet, skakningar, ont i magen och temperaturstegring -. 37 grader". Scannat dokument bifogas och man kommer att driva ärendet till FN:s kommission för mänskliga rättigheter.

DEISTIC DEFAULT

"While I was teaching adults the faith, a Jewish member of the class asked why she had not heard until that moment the Christian contention that all three persons of the holy Trinity were present at the creation and that they participated in the activity of creation (Gn 1:1-3; Jn 1:3). The easy answer would have been "because you are Jewish." But I refrained from saying this, because I also knew better. The reason why many people, including many people who confess themselves to be Christian, do not know that the holy Trinity was intimately involved in the events of the Old Testament including the appearances of God to the patriarchs is because American Christians have fallen into a default position which is really Unitarian or deistic. What I mean is that Christians now act as though the God who reveals Himself to Abraham was some kind of monad, who only discovered that He was three persons at the time of the incarnation of Jesus of the Virgin Mary. God was a deist until the New Testament era, "cloning Himself" when He decided to get involved in human affairs, so as to save humans, according to this thinking.



God created us that He might have fellowship with us, sharing Himself with us in the most intimate ways, kissing into life the clay of Adam, strolling in the Garden with the first couple and conversing with them about Himself and their relationship with Him. He is not the remote God of deism or Unitarianism. He is the God who is not reluctant to get involved in the messiness of creating contingent creatures like us, whom He knew would need His perpetual and costly involvement in their affairs so that they would come to the full experience of His fellowship. After the fall He immediately acts for them promising them the Seed who would be the final and full atonement cover for their sin and the sin of the whole world. He shed blood to provide them the skin coverings (Gn 3:21) that foreshadowed the work of the promised Seed (Heb 9:22). He came to Abraham to reinforce His promise of the Seed and specified that half dead Abraham and ancient, barren Sarah would have a child, who would be a forerunner of the very man who sat at table with Abraham, sharing table fellowship with Him. The pre-incarnate Christ was willing to wrestle with struggling Jacob and in passionate faith Jacob demanded a blessing from the One who promised Him and then preserved Him in that faith. That same Christ was willing that He should be incarnate of Mary by the Holy Spirit that that promise of salvation might be fully carried out (1Pt 1:20).


The Christ bears the patriarchal nature. What was promised came to its full flowering in Mary who gave Herself over to the need of all people. Of her was the patriarchal humanity cleansed, the Davidic nature renovated, the prophetic promise brought to its full fruition. God's Son, the Word made flesh, received in time a full and complete human nature assumed from Mary. Through that assumption of humanity He won a full victory over death, hell, and sin for us poor sinners. By sharing that humanity with us, the victory is ours. Leo the Great quite clearly saw that the God who becomes incarnate of Mary does not just arrive on the scene at His birth, but that He who was coequal and coeternal with His Father was intimately involved in the whole trajectory of salvation history both in the patriarchal past and forever. We must shed our faulty default position of deism."

Nya strider i Mali fyller de kristna med fruktan


MALI

"Nya strider och återockupation av ett antal städer i norra Mali av beväpnade tuareggrupper har på nytt väckt fruktan hos regionens kristna minoritet. Den 21 maj övervann en koalition av tuaregrebeller landets armétrupper efter en intensiv strid om kontrollen av Kidal, en av de största städerna i norra Mali. Striderna följde på premiärministern Moussa Maras besök i Kidal den 17 maj. Staden ses som ett fäste för de etniska tuaregerna som strävar efter självständighet. Enligt FN har omkring 4 000 personer flytt våldet.

Det har kommit rapporter om att tuaregkrigare också har tagit kontrollen över de nordliga städerna Meneka, Aguelhok, Anefis och Tessalit. Den 23 maj gick rebellerna med på vapenvila som Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, president i grannlandet Mauretanien och ordförande för Afrikanska unionen, förhandlat fram. Striderna är en stark påminnelse om tuaregernas separatistiska våld som svepte ner från norra delarna av landet 2012 och utlöste en statskupp. I nästan ett år regerade beväpnade islamistgrupper norra Mali, bannlyste andra religioner och plundrade kyrkor och andra gudstjänstbyggnader. Tusentals människor, inklusive många kristna, flydde till södra delarna av landet eller till grannländer som Niger och Burkina Faso.

För pastor Mohamed Ag Moussa Yattara är det som om historien skulle upprepa sig. Han kommer ihåg dagen i april 2012 när Timbuktu, en viktig regional huvudstad i norr, föll i rebellernas händer. När hotet intensifierades, organiserade Yattara flykten för 100 medlemmar i sin församling. Senare kunde han nå huvudstaden Bamako, efter en 700 kilometer lång resa som skedde med olika transportmedel och även till fots. I januari 2013 återtog franska trupper kontrollen över regionen. Yattara säger att han inte tror att han behöver återuppleva det ”svåra” livet som flykting, som enligt honom var ”vanhedrande” och där flyktingar ”ofta behandlades som tiggare”
”Jag tror inte att det kommer en ny ockupation, eftersom patruller organiserade av FN-styrkor lugnar situationen, fastän vi alla fruktar islamisternas infiltration”, säger han.

En dylik förtröstan är sällsynt bland de små, utspridda kristna samhällena i Malis nordliga ökenregioner. I Gao, en östlig regionhuvudstad, var banker och andra affärsrörelser stängda i flera dagar men har nu försiktigt öppnat igen, enligt lokala källor. I den nordöstligaste staden Aguelhok, hem för omkring 30 kristna, mest militärer, är situationen oroväckande, berättade pastor Samuel Guindo.

”Det här ”församlingen” leds av en arméofficer”, sade han. ”De träffas varje söndag i lägret. Förra månaden sände vi dem 24 stycken Biblar på franska och några psalmböcker. Men vi har hört att barackerna omringas av tuaregrebeller och man befarar att de snar får brist på mat.

Aguelhok, nära den algeriska gränsen, har starka kontakter till upproret, den plats där omkring 100 obeväpnade maliska soldater dödades i januari 2012 av tuaregrebeller och militärer som misstänkts ha kontakter till al-Qaida i islamiska Maghreb. Omkring 10 kristna troende, de flesta militärpersonal, bor i Tessalit, en annan stad lång uppe i nordost som nu uppges kontrolleras av tuaregerna. I staden Bourem finns det ett dussin troende, huvudsakligen tjänstemän.

År 2013 var Mali nummer 7 på listan över de 50 länder i världen där förföljelsen av de kristna är svårast."

- Vi ber för att situationen ska lugna sig så att både kristna och muslimer kan leva i fred i landet. Vi ber också för de troende som på olika sätt påverkats av terrorn, att de skulle få omges av Guds kärlek och frid, fastän världen omkring dem är osäker.



SRI LANKA


- Vi ber för de troende i Bandaragama där en grupp på 30 kristna den 27 april hade samlats till bön när en mobb bestående av omkring 30 personer ledda av buddistpräster stormade byggnaden och krävde att man skulle upphöra med bönemöten. Enligt rapporter sade även polisen som kom till platsen att de kristna ska sluta hålla bönemöten eftersom de inte hade tillstånd från religionsministeriet. Men Sri Lankas lagstiftning kräver inte att något dylikt tillstånd behövs för religiösa gudstjänstaktiviteter.

Vi ber om frimodighet och vishet för församlingsledare som är vid förföljelsens frontlinje i Sri Lanka, där de kristna har mött ökad förföljelse under de senaste åren. Tills vidare har det i år skett över 40 attacker mot kyrkor och kristna i Sri Lanka.

Imprisoned ex-presidential candidate Mikalai Statkevich still under pressure - do you care?

Belsat.eu: "Mikalai Statkevich is the last 2010 presidential candidate to be in prison. The sentence given to Mr Statkevich in 2011 was one of the toughest: six years of imprisonment in a maximum security penal colony.

The reason might be explained by the fact that in his election speech Mikalai Statkevich addressed to the current president demanding “to give back all that you have stolen”. The authorities are trying to embitter Statkevich’s life even in prison putting him to a disciplinary cell or making him share a ward with an AIDS sufferer. However, the former presidential candidate keeps mantaining his innocence and refuses to ask President Lukashenka for pardon.

"Den blomstertid nu kommer" - sommaren börjar:"Gud viskar till oss i solnedgången". (C S Lewis) "När man ser en solnedgång i skärgården så vet man att den inte har kommit till genom ett kommunalt beslut." (minister Jacob Söderman). Sommaren påminner oss om vårt ursprung, om vår Skapare, vår Herre. Men sommaren är inte för alla en glad ton om den ljusnande framtid som vi nyss sjungit om. Det kan vara årets tyngsta tid för några; så tung att alla inte orkar leva. Med sorgen och ångesten är det ibland så att man inte själv förstår varför man är ledsen och nere. Psalmisten skriver: "Varför är du tyngd av sorg min själ och full av oro." Ibland vet vi, eftersom vi tyngs av sorg eller sjukdom - orsakerna är uppenbara.

Är framtiden ljusnande eller mörknande? Profeten Jeremia skriver: "Jag vet väl vilka tankar jag har för er säger Herren, nämligen fridens tankar och inte ofärdens, till att ge er en framtid och ett hopp." Gud har lovat en framtid och ett hopp!

"The Lord Christ does things quite differently. He claims to triumph over the worst plagues in the world by taking human flesh, carrying human sin, dying to grant forgiveness and to defeat death for all humans. Now we're talking about a new order entirely. In that new order all the human expectations normed by the law are upended by God's radical plan to save us in a way completely outside the conception of the world. God offers Himself and without preconditions. He lays down arms and declares a state of peace with us who have been at war with Him by our sin and rebellion."


A NEW ORDER

"The incarnation of our Lord is truly a new order. What is powerful is hidden in weakness. What is miraculous is hidden in humility. The world's order is the opposite. The world presumes that coercion and overt displays of power are the preferable methods for dealing with people. The so called "new world order" (remember that moniker from George H. W. Bush?) was just the old world order with a new name. In those days, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the United States was the only serious superpower left. International relations hawks thought that the rest of the world would just have to go along with US leadership. Francis Fukuyama predicted the End of History with the eventual global triumph of political and economic liberalism. Yes, well, that didn't end up happening. Next prediction, please? The power of the human desire to overpower others has hardly come to an end.

Now we're talking about a new order entirely. In that new order all the human expectations normed by the law are upended by God's radical plan to save us in a way completely outside the conception of the world. God offers Himself and without preconditions. He lays down arms and declares a state of peace with us who have been at war with Him by our sin and rebellion. He has embraced us to calm our warring madness and in the embrace we have bound, beaten, and crucified Him. He accepted our tantrum of wickedness into Himself just as a parent embraces a child who is pitching a tantrum of frustration and accepts his flailing until he comes to himself. The Lord extinguished our burning depravity by allowing it to be extinguished in Him. What other leader has ever allowed such things to be done to him? That is certainly a new order.


Every madman, dictator, and megalomaniac has claimed to inaugurate the new world order that will last for a thousand years, but they lasted only a few decades at most; in any case somewhat short of a thousand years. Only the reign of the living Lord Jesus will be eternal. But not because we can see it marshal a hundred divisions of soldiers marching in lock step, or fill a stadium with frenzied crowds, or strike fear into the hearts of those who oppose it. No, the Lord Jesus places first in His armies the little children, who are armed only with His grace. The Lord Jesus comes not in pomp of circumstance, but in the humility of word and sacraments bestowed quietly and in great reverence by humble men called to serve God's people. The Lord seeks no fearsome secret service, but seeks to serve those who are fearful, bringing peace to their secret hearts. This is certainly a new order."

Leo the Great:


"The Son of God enters then these lower parts of the world, descending from His heavenly home and yet not quitting His Father's glory, begotten in a new order by a new nativity. In a new order, because being invisible in His own nature, He became visible in ours, and He whom nothing could comprehend was content to be comprehended (Jn 1:5). Abiding before all time He began to be in time. The Lord of all things, He obscured His immeasurable majesty and took on Himself the form of a servant. Being God that cannot suffer, He did not disdain to be man that can, and, immortal as He is, to subject Himself to the laws of death. The Lord assumed His mother's nature without her faultiness, nor in the Lord Jesus Christ, born of the Virgin's womb, does the wonderfulness of His birth make His nature unlike ours. For He who is true God is also true man and in this union there is no lie, since the humility of manhood and the loftiness of the Godhead both meet there. Just as God is not changed by the showing of pity, so man is not consumed by the dignity. For each form does what is proper to it with the cooperation of the other; that is the Word performing what pertains to the Word, and the flesh carrying out what pertains to the flesh. One of them sparkles with miracles, the other succumbs to injuries. And as the Word does not cease to be on an equality with His Father's glory, so the flesh does not forego the nature of our race. For it must again and again be repeated that one and the same is truly Son of God and truly son of man. God in that 'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God' (Jn 1:1) and man in that 'the Word became flesh and dwelt among us' (Jn 1:14). God in that 'All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made' (Jn 1:3), man in that 'He was born of woman, born under the law' (Gal 4:4)."

Prayer

Lord Christ, you did disdain to become man and suffer death, that we who were subject to death might be raised to immortality. Send us preachers and teachers who will continue to proclaim the new order of Your humility to us, that we might trust You only. Amen.
