Belarus - Disapperances, Volha Nikalaichyk has spoken about the conditions of detentions at Akrestsina

Belarus.

"According to official statistics, several hundred people are registered missing in Belarus every year, Radio Svaboda reports. Some are found, but many more names are added to the list of those for whom relatives and police will search for years. Often - unsuccessfully.

The reasons for the disappearance of people are different – criminal, domestic, associated with a state of health or an antisocial way of life. A separate group among the missing are those who fell victim to politically motivated kidnapping. In modern Belarus, among such people are former Interior Minister Yury Zakharanka, the former chairman of the Central Election Commission and the deputy chairman of the Supreme Council Viktar Hanchar, his friend businessman Anatol Krasouski and the ORT cameraman, Belarusian journalist Zmitser Zavadski. – "Previously, almost in all the cells, 6-8 daylight lamps used to look full in the face, they were not turned off day and night. At night, I had to wrap my face with a towel. During my last arrest, I changed four cells, and there was no "moon" in all of them. When you lie on the top of the bunk bed, the lamps shine such a bright light, as if you are on a surgical table. This time, there was no cold water, I had nothing to eat for one day. The Soviet prison toilet was also awashed with hot water. At the same time, they had painted the doors, walls and windows – they had made a "repair", so that the picture looked nice.

We remind that on August 24, Volha Nikalaichyk was detained when protesting near the House of Justice, where the judicial decision in the REP trade union’s case was delivered."
