Vadim Kuramshin sentenced to twelve years imprisonment for human rights activities (December 7, 2012)
Mänskorättskämpen Vadim Kuramshin har idag dömts till 12 års fängelse i Kazakstan. Nyheten bekräftas av modern Olga Koltunova. Efter att Vadim hade yttrat sina sista ord kl. 18.45 samlades juryn i ett annat rum och efter två timmar avkunnades domen: 12 års fängelse i straffkoloni och konfiskering av hans egendom. Under rättscirkusen som saknar motstycke har han anklagats för att ha tagit emot mutor. Kuramshin har tidigare i år den 28 augusti fått en frikännande dom i samma mål och två av jurymedlmmarna har besvärat sig till FN:s högkommissarie och till landets president mot att den frikännande domen upphävts och rättsprocessen startat igen. Det är uppenbart att regimen vill ha honom undanröjd eftersom han avslöjat flera fall av grova övergrepp och tortyr av fångar i Kazakstanska fängelser och även årsdagen av massakern på civila demonstranter (oljearbetare) i Zanaosen närmar sig.

Human rights defender and lawyer Vadim Kuramshin has today been sentenced to 12 years in prison in Kazakhstan. The news is confirmed by his moder Olga Koltunova. After Vadim's last words at. 18:45 the jury was gathering in another room, and after two hours they pronounced the judgement: 12 years of imprisonment in a penal colony and confiscation of his property. During the "trial" he has been accused of taking bribes. Earlier this year on August, 28 he received an acquittal in the case and two of the jurors have sent an open letter to the High Commissioner and to the president of the country about the illegal trial that had been starting now. It is obvious that the regime wants him eliminated because he revealed several cases of serious abuse and torture of prisoners in Kazakhstani prisons and also the anniversary of the massacre of civilian demonstrators (oil workers) in Zhanaozen (Жанаозен) is approaching.

Detta har hänt: Tidigare jurymedlemmar (edsvurna vittnen) har genom ett öppet brev vänt sig till FN:s högkommissarie för mänskliga rättigheter och till Kazhkstans president med anledning av målet i rättegången från den 28.8.2012. Jurymedlemmarna har dömt, hederligt, rättvist och opartiskt. Juristen och mänskorättsförsvararen Vadim Kuramshin anklagades för utpressning (Uderbayev var motparten) och hotades av 14 års fängelse efter en 5 månader lång rättegång som han senare friades ifrån. De jurymedlemmar som vänder sig till FN och landets president pekar på landets godtyckliga brottsbekämpning. Polisen hade i hemlighet spelat in en video mellan Uderbayev och Kuramshin men juryn fann ingenting som skulle bevisa utpressning. (Uderbayev har häktats för smuggling) Polisen har beslagtagit Vadim Kuramshins bilnycklar och stulit en minidator ur hans bil. Vadim Kuramshin frikändes dock som sagt.
Domstolen (Zambyl) har på felaktiga grunder den 31.8.2012 förkastat detta domstolsutslag. Det är ett hån mot rättvisan. Vittnena anser också att myndigheterna har kränkt deras integritet genom telefonavlyssning. De yrkar på bestraffning för detta. De vänder sig till FN och presidenten eftersom ett justitiemord håller på att ske. En oskyldig man bör inte vara i fängelse.
Earlier jurors (sworn witnesses), wrote to the Un High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Kazhkstan's President, through an open letter on the occasion of the target in the trial from 28/08/2012. Jurors have judged honestly, fairly and impartially in the trial. Lawyer and human rights defender Vadim Kuramshin was unfarily accused of extortion and was threatened with 14 years in prison after a 5-month trial. The court freed him. The jurors who turn to the UN and President of the country indicates its arbitrary enforcement. The police had secretly recorded a video of Uderbayev and Kuramshin but the jury found nothing that would prove extortion. (Uderbayev has been arrested for smuggling) Police have seized Vadim Kuramshins car keys and stole a mini computer from his car.
Court (Zambyl) has wrongly rejected this court ruling on August 31, 2012. It is a mockery of justice. Witnesses also says that the authorities have violated their privacy regarding telephones. They call for punishment for this. They turn to the UN and the president because a miscarriage of justice is being done. An innocent man should not be in prison.

Verkligen chockerande bråttom att döma Vadim Kuramshin - justitiemord. Precis det som står i denna artikel som jag läste nyss har jag relaterat till i min senaste blogg utan att ha läst detta i förväg. Genast Vadim blev fri fortsatte han att arbeta för mänskliga rättigheter. Ofattbart modig man! Han kunde ju ha hoppat av i Warshawa men det gjorde han inte. Han fortsatte att hjälpa försvarslösa medmänskor i fängelserna i Kazakstan tex. Sabine som hungersstrejkade pga sexuella övergrepp från fängelsechefens sida. Han satte också strålkastaren på flera fall av "naturlig död" i fängelserna där man med säkerhet vet och ser spår av mycket brutal och extremt svårt tortyr. Orsaken till att Vadim fortsatte utan att skona sig själv var säkert till stor del att så många hörde talas om honom och ringde och begärde hjälp. Nu är det viktigt att han får allt stöd han kan få.
Really shocking! Just what it says in this article that I read recently, I have related to in my recent blog without reading this in advance. Immediately when Vadim became free, he continued to work for human rights. He is an incredibly brave man! He could have jumped off in Warshaw but he did not. He continued to help the defenseless people in the prisons of Kazakhstan as the girl Sabine who went on hunger strike because of sexual abuse from the prison boss. Vadim also put the spotlight on several cases of "natural death" in prisons. You can see the traces of very brutal and extremely hard torture on some pictures he took. The reason that Vadim continued without sparing himself was certainly that so many heard about him and called and asked for help. Now it is important that he gets all the support he can get!

12 years of imprisonement and confiscation of property for human rights defender Vadim Kuramshin. Jurors were outraged over the sentence. Observers, relatives and friends of Vadim Kuramshin noted that the second court hearing took place with serious violations of the law. Representatives of the civil society was shocked by the rapid and unjust judgement. There was no evidence of his guild and he was freed in the first court.
